3 Tips that skin experts know that now you can too ;)

At KindGirlco., skin is our specialty. We want to offer information to people about the biggest organ of their body.

Before I started studying the skin, I could barely find any information out there about it. It seemed like a magic secret to have healthy looking skin. I had many questions, like: why would my skin break out after I travelled? Why my skin would become so dry? Why I developed eczema? What are all those chemicals names in my skin lotion?

So, I went back to school to study it. I learnt a few things that I would like to share with you:

1. Laying in the sun is literally killing off the cells in your skin.

So, we learnt about UV rays in school, right? It is important to note that, although both rays are not able to penetrate through your skin, the rays that do are very harmful to the body. Over-exposure to the sun can kill of the cells that produce collagen in your skin. Which, could leave your skin looking dry and aging your skin quicker than regularly. I recommend not exposing your skin more than 15 mins and, if you do, use an organic sunscreen-as some sunscreens have been linked to skin cancer.

2. Most products available are made up of 80%water.

Yup, that's right! Most of these big companies use mostly water and preservatives in their products. Water has many great uses, hydration on the skin is not one of them. I recommend using an oil based product as oils, particularly botanical oils, mimic your skin's hydration and are therefore very moisturizing for the skin.

3. Skin's health depends on your diet too.

It is important to treat your skin with care and external hydration; however, your skin is an organ and absorbs internal nutrients too. We absorb approximately 70% of our nutrients into our skin from our diet. So, it is important to eat well and stay hydrated too, if you want healthy skin.
